Thomas Edward Canterbury

Thomas Edward Canterbury Born January 24, 1951, at Holden, WV son of William H. and Elsie “Jones” Canterbury peacefully graduated to his heavenly home after a courageous battle. Tom always loved to tell everyone he encountered about his miraculous born-again experience which occurred on October 18, 1975, while on a drug run. He never got over God’s Grace in his life! He often said, “If God could save me, he can save anyone”. Tom later became an ordained preacher in 1980 under the leadership of his mentor and spiritual father Curtis Booth. Tom served Pastor Curtis for 15 years before moving into the role of being a pastor himself. In May of 1999, he established Kingdom Harvest Church located in Lenore WV where he faithfully served for the remainder of his life. Tom had many hobbies and enjoyed life to the fullest. His two favorite things were bass fishing and riding his Harley with a host of family and friends. Tom had two special friends that were forever faithful to fish or ride with him, Terry Wallace was his fishing/hunting buddy, and Ronnie Hall was his riding buddy. Tom had a host of ministry friends but the ones he ministered with the most were Pastor Will Compton, Pastor Stewart Farley, Pastor Eric King, Evangelist Dennis Heber, Pastor Terry Jo Blankenship, and Pastor Jeff Floyd. Thomas is proceeded in death by his father and mother William and Elsie Canterbury, his father and mother-in-law Don and Mary Floyd, and one special nephew Justin Lee Canterbury. He is survived by his high school sweetheart “Brown Eyed Girl” and wife of 53 years Debra Ann Canterbury. 2 brothers James “Late Violet” Canterbury and Gary “Rose” Canterbury. 2 daughters Christie “Lamar” Haynes, Missie “Art” Curnutte. 2 sons Jason “Melissa” Floyd and Tom “Cristy” Canterbury. He is also survived by his Grandchildren. Chris Haynes, Andrew Floyd, Cody (Katherine) Curnutte, Cheyenne (Justin) Jewel, Paige (Toby) Cranford, Hayley Haynes, Austin Floyd, Aaron Floyd, Alyssa Floyd, Israel (Lakyn) Canterbury, Anna Beth Canterbury, Isaac Haynes, and Tori Canterbury. Great Grand Children, Navaeh Haynes, Peyton Haynes, Cameron Curnutte, and Wren Collins Floyd. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews he loved with all his heart!!! The family would like to thank the staff of Pikeville Medical Center, His two brothers James and Gary, and his daughter in love Cristy Canterbury for being the best caregivers. Visitation for family will be Friday, June 2, 2023, @ 5 pm. Visitation will begin for the public at 6 pm at Kingdom Harvest Church in Lenore. Funeral Services will be at 12 noon on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Kingdom Harvest Church in Lenore, with Pastor Will Compton officiating. All the grandsons and biker friends will serve as pallbearers. The family requested that all his friends bring their bikes out and escort him to his resting place. Instead of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to Kingdom Harvest Church.
