Roger Charles Gibson

Roger Charles Gibson 58 of Meador WV passed away from a lingering illness on Sunday January 5, 2025 at CAMC in Charleston, West Virginia. Roger was born February 12, 1966 in the old Williamson Memorial Hospital. He was the youngest son of the late Bert Gibson and Sarah Thacker Gibson. Roger was preceded in death by his son, David Charles Gibson , his daddy, Bert Gibson, his brother Russell Ellis Gibson “Jake”, his precious Granny Nora Thacker, his father-in-law, Michael Dale Adkins Sr., and his brother-in-law, Michael Adkins Jr.. He is also predeceased by his favorite cousin, Sharon “Teak “ Maynard, and a favorite Aunt Mary Stepp “Mert”. Roger loved being a Mechanic working three different times for Good Year as head mechanic; he also worked for the West Virginia Forestry Division as a fire patrolman. He worked hard at whatever he was doing. He always gave each job 100%. He was good at fixing things around the house. Roger truly was a “Jack of ALL trades”. He absolutely loved building things, fishing, and especially his role as Poppaw. He loved all of his grandchildren. Motorcycles were his passion. Survivors include his mommy, Sarah “ Peg” Gibson of Logan WV, his brother Bert W. Gibson , his daughter Mary Lorraine (Joey) Mounts, his fiancé, Melody Reed, his sons Matthew Virgil (Kayla) Whitt , Samuel Ryan (Danielle) Whitt , Michael Charles “Bubba“ (Amanda) Hatfield, his sisters-in-law, Stacy Chafin, Bernice (Shannon) Blankenship, Rosalee (Keith) Ellis, and Kayla Elliott, his mother-in-law, Virginia Mooney, his brother-in-law, Joshua Adkins, his grandchildren, Braycen Dale Likens , Matthew “Logan“ Whitt, Gregory Charles Mounts , Ethan Ryan Whitt, Brantley Chase Hatfield , Carson Blake Hatfield , Joseph Boo Mounts and Makayla (Isa) Mounts , Harley Mounts, and one great-granddaughter Eliyanah Tate Scales. Roger is also survived by his nephews, Christopher “Big Mac” Gibson, Bert “BR“ Gibson, Eric C. Gibson , his nieces Kayla Gibson, Sartarra Gibson, Gabrielle Gibson , and special friends, Sherrie Gibson, Paul Whitt Roger, and Kim Whitt. No services are to be announced at this time.
