Randall Crum

At his residence on Tuesday night, Randall Lee Crum, prayed and asked God to please touch and heal his body, and on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, God answered his prayer and took Randall home to live in His presence forevermore. He now has a new body, free from sickness and pain that was given to him out of love, mercy, and grace through the blood of our savior, Jesus Christ, God’s son. Randall was born on November 8, 1961, in Logan, WV, to the late James R. and Arizona (Varney) Crum. He was preceded in death by siblings Amos, Dennis, Paul, Alonzo, Walter, Emma, and Jamie Crum, Nicky Seigler, Polly Gillman, Mary Sias, Rhoda Ratliff, Faye Rainey, Emogene Blake, Ann Crum, and Alma and Dolly Nelson. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicki, daughter Heather (Kenneth) Hatfield, granddaughters Brittany (fiance Garic Roberts), Annie, and Dot Waller, great-grandson Atlas Roberts, sister Bonnie Vance, and many nieces, nephews, and valued friends. Randall enjoyed the many years he helped coach little league and school-level basketball and softball; but nothing could match the joy he had teaching and mentoring students for the Mingo County School District. It saddened him so when he had to retire in January due to his health. He brought smiles to many students including those not even enrolled in his classes. He had such an infectious personality that students were just drawn to him. I don’t think he really knew what a positive impact he had on so many people. He loved going fishing, visiting Tennessee, going to flea markets, talking with his nephew Jimmy from Cleveland on the phone, visiting and talking with his best friend Donnie Edwards, and building as many memories as he could with his family. He had already formed plans to teach that great-grandson of his how to play baseball and football. As passionately as he loved all these things in life, none of them would have been possible without his love for Jesus Christ, our savior. He mentioned on several occasions that while alone, he would have conversations with God, and he could sometimes feel Him in the room which brought a feeling of peace and calm. He said that it was pure love that he felt and he was ready and looked forward to the day that he would be reunited with the multitude of loved ones who had gone ahead of him to Heaven. Randall will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by those who knew him. I love you Randall Lee: to which he’d reply “I love you Vicki D.” And I would marry you a thousand times over: to which he would repeat the sentiment. You were and will always be one-of-a-kind, my dear husband! Funeral services will be conducted by Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton, WV, from 6-9 pm on Saturday, August 2, and at 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025, officiated by pastor Brian Wellman with burial to follow at the Varney Family Cemetery at Varney, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
