Kimberly Sue Preece

Kimberly Sue Preece, 67, of Belo, West Virginia, gained her heavenly wings on September 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. After a long and difficult journey, Kim is finally free from pain and suffering and resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. Kim was born on March 12, 1959, in Williamson, West Virginia, to Ruth (Brown) Boggs. Kim was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ruth, for whom Kim lovingly served as a caregiver, and her grandparents, Elmer and Polly Brown. She was a loving mother, Gran-Gran, Great-Gran-Gran, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and best friend. Kim found joy in cooking, caring for the people she loved, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her love for her family knew no bounds. Kim was fiercely protective of those she loved and never hesitated to stand up for them. She loved deeply, gave freely, and would do anything for the people who meant the most to her. Her family was her world, and she loved them with every part of her heart. Her absence will leave a space that can never be filled, and she will be missed more than words could ever express. Kim is survived by her son, Richard Preece, Jr. (Trina) of Man, WV; her daughter, Kristy Preece of Belo, WV; grandchildren, Corey Preece (Briona) of Chapmanville, WV; Jordan Hodge (Jaxon) of Naugatuck, WV; Karis Preece and Jonas Brown of Belo, WV; and great-grandchildren, Kolton Wyatt Preece, Julianna Joy Hodge, and soon-to-be Kase Tyler Preece. She is also survived by her siblings, David Boggs (Michelle) of Belo, WV—Michelle being more like a sister and best friend—and Craig Boggs (Kimmy-K) of Chapmanville, WV; her special uncle and father-figure, Johnny Brown of Belo, WV; nephews Nathaniel Boggs (Katelyn) of Pikeville, WV, and Kandace Harper (Stewart) of Madison, WV; special cousins Jamie Willis (Bradley) of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and Jason Brown of Mississippi; and special nieces and nephews Mavric Harper, Skylin Boggs, Hollyn Boggs, and Stetson Boggs. Kim's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to those who cared for and supported her throughout her final months. A special thank-you goes to her daughter, Kristy; son, Rick; sisters-in-law, Michelle and Kimmy-K, uncle, Johnny Brown; niece, Kandace, who proudly proclaimed herself the favorite; nephew, Nathaniel; cousin, Jamie; grandchildren, Karis and Jonas; and special friends Rick and Sharon Preece, for their unwavering care, love, and dedication. The family is especially grateful for the 24-hour care provided to Kim during her final months, allowing her to remain surrounded by love and family. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who offered prayers, encouragement, financial assistance, and spiritual support during Kim's illness and in helping with her final expenses. Every act of kindness, no matter how big or small, meant more than words can express. Thank you. Kim's earthly journey may have come to an end, but the love she gave and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Though her family will miss her beyond measure, they find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and has finally found peace. Until we meet again, Mom. We love you. Funeral services for Kimberly Sue Preece will be held Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Victory Christian Center in Lenore, WV, with Pastor Terry Blankenship officiating with special singing by Kimberly Colegrove, Art Deskins, and Rick Goble. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery in Belo, WV with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Chafin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Preece Family.
