James "Duffy" Muncy

James Leroy “Duffy” Muncy 75 of Delbarton, WV went home peacefully to be with the Lord and reunite with the love of his life, Judith Muncy, his beautiful wife of 53 years. Duffy passed away on November 13, 2022 at his home. He was born June 25, 1947, at Puritan Mines, WV, the son of the late Thomas E. and Kathleen McCoy Muncy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judith Lynn Muncy, brothers, Thomas “Red” Muncy, Arthur “Butch” Muncy and Daryl Muncy, sisters, Sheila Dishman and Mallie Muncy. Duffy was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country. He was retired from the coal mines having worked more than 30 years. Duffy loved spending time with his family and supervising their many projects. There was no better boss to keep them in line. He served his community well as he participated on many group and boards. He was the President of the Delbarton Music Company for 18 years and helped run the Saturday night Opry House. He also was a longtime member of the Mountaineer Development Company where he played an important part of the development of the Helena Manor. He coached Little League Baseball at Ragland for many years and was involved with the Ragland Crime Watch as well. Those left behind to cherish his memories include his sons, James L. “Jamie” Muncy and Thomas “TJ” (Amanda) Muncy both of Delbarton, sisters, Shirley (Walter) Hardesty of Red Jacket, WV, Gail (Mark) Lendearo of Delbarton, and Jan Hammond of Meador, WV. His grandsons, who was his pride and joy, James Muncy III (Davie Fouch), Chris (Hannah Dempsey) Muncy, Caleb Muncy and Alex Muncy . He was their number 1 fan at all their sporting events and their lifetime achievements. He was always so proud of them. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. . He rarely missed watching his Mingo Central Miners with his sidekick Zach. He was the best at taking care of his family, becoming a second dad to his niece Amanda, and stepping in as a paw paw to Kaylee, Emily, and Zach. He always kept a supply of popsicles for all of the neighborhood children. Duffy was the rock of the Muncy family. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Beckett and the staff of Williamson Health and Wellness Center, Marcy Martinez, Joe Tate, and Kim Compton from the New Beginnings Pulmonary Clinic, and the staff of the Hurley Drug Pharmacy. In honoring the wishes of Duffy, cremation will take place and memorial services will be announced at a later time. Chafin Funeral Home is proudly serving the Muncy Family.
