James Bevins

James Edward Bevins (Clarence), 85, of Delbarton, WV, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 7, 2026, at his residence. He was born on November 15, 1940, to the late Robert Bevins and Lilly Miller Bevins. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sisters, Marcelle White, Lucy Mullins, Edith Maynard, Shelva Jean Bevins, and Shelby Bevins; brothers, Frankie Bevins, Ernest Bevins, and Herbert Bevins. James served as a Pastor for The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ for many years. His faith was not simply something he practiced on Sundays; it was a daily walk. What he preached at church, he lived privately at home. He loved working with wood and said he was a carpenter like Jesus. Anyone who knew our Dad knew two things: he loved his family fiercely, and he loved Jesus Christ above all else. Through Dad’s eyes, we saw God’s love. In his words, we heard God’s wisdom. Through his life, we felt God’s grace. We thank God for the gift of our Daddy. Nothing loved is ever truly lost, and he was loved so very much. “Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.” John 14:19 Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 61 years, Linda Bevins; his son, Gary Edward Bevins (Melissa); his daughters, Lora Cisco (Greg), Laura Bevins-Sanders (Denzil), and Kathy Davis (Scott); his grandchildren, Joshua Fouch, Krystyn Hill, Taylor Bevins, BreAnna Patrick, Zackery Davis, Dalton Cisco, Garrett Sanders, Tarrah Sanders, and James Aaron Davis, “Pippy T”. Special thanks to Greg, Scott, and Zack for all their extra help for taking care of James. Visitation for James will be held at Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton, WV, on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Ronnie Wolford officiating. Burial will follow at the Bevins Family Cemetery in Boy Scout Hollow, Ragland, WV. His son and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Chafin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bevins family.
