Earl Rodney Baisden

Earl Rodney Baisden 81 of Elk Creek, WV passed away April 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 10, 1942 in Lovely, KY the son of the late Wallace “Wad” Baisden and Louise Kirk Baisden and also preceded in death by beloved son, Gary Lee Baisden. Rodney is survived by his siblings, Robert Lee Kirk and Frankie Dotson Boggs. He also leaves behind the love of his life for nearly 40 years, Gladys Irene Baisden, children, Donna Maria Shaver and husband, Lewis, Glen Allen Baisden and wife, Rena, Randy Wallace Baisden and wife, Elizabeth, Eric Lane Conley and wife, Nancy and Jerry “Jay” Conley. Rodney was Grandfather to, Eric Shane Baisden, Tiffany Baisden, Kelsey Baisden, Eilan Myles Conley, Saylor Coleman, Amanda Hinkle and Candace Fletcher. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews he loved and cherished dearly including a special niece, Tammy Scott. Rodney was a graduate of Burch High School. He had many occupations in his lifetime. He started shortly after high school as a service station attendant in Columbus, OH, drove a semi truck for Akers Supply, was a coal miner at Adanac Coal Company and retired as an electrician at Hobet Mining. He would tell stories of hyjinx and practical jokes, he and his co-workers played on each other. During his careers he made good memories and lifelong friends. Rodney was a dear and precious soul to his loved ones and friends. He was wise and was often sought after for his advice and counsel. His easy nature and caring ways made him an amazing dad to his children and a loving Papaw to his grandchildren. He had a devout love of God, a powerful belief in his savior and the promise of a Heavenly Home. Rodney’s passing leaves an eternal hole in our hearts. He leaves shoes that will never be filled. He was a great man and we will love and honor him always. Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 12:00pm with Rev. Mitchell Bias officiating. Burial will follow in the Baisden Family Cemetery at Elk Creek, WV. Visitation will be at the funeral home chapel on Saturday evening from 6:00pm till 9:00pm. Pallbearers will be his family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Shaver, Robert Lee Kirk, Gene Baisden, Paul Scott and Albert Watts.
