Bobby William Plotner

Bobby William Plotner, 86, of Belo, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2026, while a patient at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. Born on January 16, 1940, in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, Bob was the son of the late Sterling and Lucille Murphy Plotner. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Plotner and Shirley Plotner. Bob was a successful businessman whose hard work and dedication earned the respect of many throughout the region. In 1984, he founded Belo Mine Supply, faithfully serving his customers until his retirement in 2009. A devoted Christian, Bob was a faithful member of Little Dove United Baptist Church in Belo. His love for his church was evident through his service to the congregation and community. He looked forward each year to helping with the church's Thanksgiving Dinner and found great joy in participating in Vacation Bible School, where his kindness and love for children touched many lives. Throughout his life, Bob was actively involved in numerous organizations. He proudly served as a past president of the Tug Valley Mine Institute and was a dedicated member of the York Rite Beni Kedem Shriners, where he brought smiles to countless faces as a beloved Shriner clown. He was also a proud 50-year member of O'Brien Lodge No. 101 A.F. & A.M. After retirement, Bob found happiness tending his garden, caring for his trees, camping, and cooking for family and friends. He especially cherished traveling to the beach with his beloved wife, Barbara, knowing it was her favorite place to be. Bob possessed a heart of gold and loved wholeheartedly. His greatest joys were his wife, his church family, and the children of the church. His gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Barbara Slater Plotner; his brother, Willis Plotner and wife Carolee; his nieces and nephew, Leigh Ann Tubaugh and husband Dan, Dr. Chad Faulkner and wife Stephanie, and Megan Boggs and husband Matt. He is also survived by his cherished furbaby, Barkley; his special friends, Clyde Spence and Sonny; his special nurse, Beth Hawkins of ARH Skilled Nursing; and Matthew James and Ashley, whom he loved as his own son and family. Funeral services will be conducted at Little Dove United Baptist Church on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Elder Jimmy Maynard and Elder Chris Ooten officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, West Virginia. Friends may visit the family at the church on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Bob will be carried to his final resting place by his fellow men of the church. Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton is honored to serve the Plotner family during this time of loss.
