Joann Burton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joann Burton, 78 of Matewan, WV formerly of Delbarton went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 1, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. She was born August 10, 1943 at Thacker, WV the daughter of the late Jake Coleman and Vesta Coleman Hager. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Burton, sisters, Darlene Curry, Brenda Dillon, Irene Noe, Delphine Slone and Shirl Burton and brothers, John L. Coleman, Charles Coleman and Bobby “Bo” Coleman. Joann was a homemaker. She loved to cook for family gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whom everyone loved dearly. She was the former owner of Joann’s Thrift Store in Matewan where she loved making new friends from all the visitors in Matewan. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 64 years, Billy Burton, daughters, Brenda and her husband Rickey Bailey of Ragland, WV and Billie Jo and her husband Donald Endicott of Mooresburg, TN, grandchildren; Matthew (Miranda Layne) Endicott, Ashley (Lacy) Edmiston, Amanda (Nathaniel) Gibson, Rachel (Shane) Hunt and Rocky (Rita) Noe, great-grandchildren; Matthew “LilMan”, Grayson, Reece, Amelia, Jeremiah, Easton, Hannah and Rachel, sisters; Vernetta “Biggie” (Eddie) Cline and Loretta Savage, special friends and sisters-in-law, Jeanette “Poochie” Coleman and Carol Coleman. Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 1:00pm with Rev. Scott Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Thacker Cemetery at Thacker, WV. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6-9pm with special services at 7:00p with Rev. Nathaniel Gibson officiating. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
