Jean Francis Maynard 79 of Laurel Creek, WV went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2019 at her home while surrounded by her family. She was born February 19, 1940 at Laurel Creek, WV the daughter of the late Claude Canterbury and Magdeline Hitchcock Canterbury and her step father Harmon Canterbury. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kaile Maynard, brother, Jess Canterbury and sister, Rhoda Marcum. Francis was a homemaker. She was a member of the Laurel Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a former member of the Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to attend church when she was able to. She was loved by all who knew her. Those left behind to cherish her memories include her daughters, Patty Maynard and Rita King and her husband Ed, brothers, Silas Canterbury and Harmon Canterbury Jr. and his wife, Karen, grandchildren, William and Matthew Browning and Ashley Daugherty, special friend, Shirley White, special nieces, Gloria Jean Farley, sisters-in-law, Joann Canterbury, Dolly York, Juanita Preece, Linda Sue Policcastro, Myrtle Krauski and Bertha Mae Farley, brothers-in-law, Don Marcum and Harold and Shirley Maynard. Funeral services will be held at the Laurel Creek Freewill Baptist Church on Thursday January 2, 2020 at 1:00pm with Rev. James Ed Baisden and Scott Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Canterbury-Maynard Cemetery at Laurel Creek. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday evening after 6:00pm with services starting at 7:00pm.
