Ronald Lee Powers

Ronald Lee Powers, 70, of Belo, WV, was received by his Heavenly Father on May 23, 2024. Ronnie was born on April 21, 1954, to the late Clarence “Buddy” Powers and Ruth Staten Powers. In addition to his parents, Ronnie is also preceded in death by his beloved father and mother-in-law, William and Mae Barger, who loved him as a son. Ronnie was raised on Elk Creek and attended Burch High School. He married the love of his life, Billie Jo, in 1982. You would often hear Ronnie talking about his “Pride and Joy,” son, Brandon Seth Powers (Becky), and precious granddaughters, Brooklyn, Avery, and Claire. Ronnie was a doting granddad who always let his girls know they were loved. He raised a son, but sure loved the blessing of being Grandad to three little girls. Ronnie is also survived by brother, Tommy Dale (Ernestine) Powers, and aunts, Norma Powers Brummett and Juanita Powers. Ronnie spent nearly 19 years working as a coal miner at Marrowbone Development. He was a long standing member of the UMWA, and attended the Duncan Fork United Baptist Church. Ronnie was a lover of the outdoors and found contentment fishing by the water. He loved to share his joy of fishing with others and especially loved teaching his granddaughters to fish. Ronnie was a skilled carpenter who could fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He never hesitated to serve God by loving and helping others. One of Ronnie’s greatest enjoyments was singing. He had a beautiful voice and often received requests to sing at church. Many were blessed by listening to Ronnie sing of his Savior’s love. Visitation will be held on May 27, 2024 from 12 to 1 pm at Chafin Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held directly after at 1 pm at Chafin Funeral Home with Elder Eddie Layne and Rev. Bobby Perry Officiating. . Burial will follow at the Family Cemetery in Gilbert, WV. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Memorial donations in Ronnie’s name can be made to UMWA Miner’s Aid Fund.
