Noah White Sr.

Noah White Sr., of Lenore, West Virginia, entered into his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 while at the Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, at the age of 89. He was born on October 25, 1935 to the late Daniel and Mary Jarrells White. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 62 years, Edith Faye Lackey White, his daughter, Lula Sturgell, his granddaughter, Jenna Faye White, his brothers, Clarence White and Daniel Jr. White, his sisters, Madeline Fields and Carolyn Perry, his daughter-in-law, Sheila White, and his second wife, Oneda Marcum White. When Noah was young, he met his wife, Edith, and soon after got married. He was at the young age of 17, while she was 16, and they spent their lives together up until her passing. Over the years, he worked in the coal industry as a miner, owned The Trading Post Variety Store, several sawmills, and the auction house. Noah enjoyed going to auctions, the flea market, going on coon hunting trips, camping, and overall, just loved life. He could be described as robust, adventurous, independent, a “cut up”, and someone who never met a stranger. He was a proud Christian and member of the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church for many years. Noah was loved by all who knew him and he will be dearly missed. Those left behind here on Earth to cherish his memory include his sons, William (Shirley) White, Noah Jr. (Gertie) White, and Phillip Adam White, his daughters, Betty (Dewey Ray) Chafin, Mary (Monty) Messer, Janie (John) Canterbury, and Theresa Dillon, his brother, Mitchell White, his sisters, Cosby Morgan, Betty Jean Gauzely, Lucinda Canterbury, Christine White, and Marilyn Messer, and 70 loving grandchildren. He is also survived by his right hand man, John Boy Maynard, a host of loving nieces and nephews, and the family of his second wife, Oneda, her son, Johnny Marcum, her granddaughter, Paeton Marcum, and great-grandson, Karter Marcum. Services for Noah will be held at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church in Dingess, West Virginia, on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6:00 PM with a special service at 7:00 PM. Ministers of the church will be officiating the services. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Lackey Cemetery on Marrowbone Creek, West Virginia with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. Chafin Funeral Home is proudly serving the family.
