Keith Hinkle

Lawrence Keith Hinkle made his journey home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 15th, 2026, while at his home in Varney, WV where he resided with his sister, Teresa Hinkle after a long battle with cancer. Keith was born on January 2, 1964, at Williamson, WV. He was the son of the late William Bill Hinkle and Emma Paige Justice Hinkle. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Roger Lee Hinkle, Raymond Russell Hinkle, Curtis Dale Hinkle, Troy Gayle Hinkle, Billy Ray Hinkle and Bruce Edward Hinkle and his sister Ruby Hinkle. In his younger years Keith worked hanging steel and loved it. Heights never bothered him and he loved talking about all the times he sat on those steel beams. He loved being outdoors working with his hands and was a gifted carpenter. From roaming through the mountains on a four-wheeler to fishing by a river, he was happiest when outdoors. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing and he always had a song ready for anyone willing to listen. His greatest accomplishment in life was when he made his way to an altar of repentance and gave his heart to Jesus. During his sickness when he was able to talk at all he would pray with me and often drift off to sleep in the middle of prayer. He was wise in so many ways. As I sat with him during these last weeks, he knew my heart was heavy and one day he woke up and during his pain he tried to reassure me all was well. He said, Sissy this is just a season in life that we all have to go through and he was right. He was a brother and friend to many and will be sadly missed. I am comforted with the words of King David from the book of 2 Samuel. 12:22-23 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. Keith is survived by his brothers and sisters, Shirley Hinkle, Brenda Sue (Roger) Fields, Thurman (Wilma) Hinkle, Patsy (Roger) Ray, Kathy (Tim) Wellman, Teresa Hinkle and Terry Hinkle and his dear friend, Barbara Mullins as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that loved him. Per his wishes, Keith will be cremated and laid to rest beside his dad and mom at the Justice cemetery at Varney, WV. A special memorial service will be held for him on Wednesday May 20th beginning at 6:30 pm at Pie Church of God with Reverend Brian Wellman and Reverend Denny May officiating.
