Jerry Maynard

Jerry Lee Maynard of Delbarton, West Virginia departed from this earthly life and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven with his family by his side after a sudden and brief illness. Jerry was born on June 2nd , 1949 in Williamson, West Virginia. Jerry always had a smile on his face and a warm welcome for those who knew him. He was kind, gracious, and loving, and that was evident with how he treated those around him, especially his friends and family. Jerry was the most proud Poppy to all of his grandchildren. Whatever the activity, he was always there to show his support, beaming with pride every time. Being one of their biggest fans, Jerry traveled countless miles with his wife, Diana, to cheer on their six grandchildren at their sports games and activities. He was also Diana’s biggest fan and best friend. It was common to see the duo together. If you ever heard him talking about Diana, he always referred to her as “Hun”. Through his early life, Jerry worked at and later owned Maynard Wholesale and Maynard Paint and Hardware for many years. He also worked at Robertson’s Grocery , and later in his life ended his working career after working in the Coal Mines for around 27 years. Jerry is welcomed into his eternal home on high by his father Elba Lee Maynard, his loving in-laws, who he called “Mom” and “Dad”, Roy and Antha Robertson, and his grandmother Allie Maynard. Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory include his loving wife Diana Maynard, his daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Kevin Hatfield, and his son and daughter-in-law Jerry “JJ” and Vanessa Maynard. He also leaves behind his beloved six grandchildren Jaylin Maynard, Jase Maynard, Drew Hatfield, Devin Hatfield, Dane Hatfield, and Dillon Hatfield. Services for Jerry will be held at Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton, West Virginia. Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.A funeral service will be on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 12:00pm with Pastor Mitchell Bias officiating. Burial will be to follow at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Maher, West Virginia. Jerry will be missed terribly, but this is not goodbye. This is “until we meet again”. John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chafin Funeral Home.
