Jack David Chambers

Jack David Chambers 72 of Ragland, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday August 5, 2019 at his home. He was born January 15, 1947 at Newtown, WV the son of the late Jack Bryce and Lillian Staten Chambers. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents; Albert “Ball” and Lydia Marie Chafin Chambers and Albert and Louise Roberts Staten, sister-in-law; Cathy Garmin, brother; Rodney Wingo Chambers and sister; Maryann Wharton. Jack was a retired coal miner having worked 21 years in the mines. He was a member of the Local Union 1440 UMWA, a member of the Hugh C. Boyd Lodge, Red Jacket, WV, Beni Keedem Shrine, Charleston, WV and the Eastern Starr. He also enjoyed working with the Ragland Crime Watch. Most importantly Jack was a member of the Connolly Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved his church and church family but most of all he loved the Lord. Jack was a loving husband having married his sweetheart over 50 years ago, Connie Bowers Chambers. He has three children; Jack Dale and wife Lori Chambers of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Jimmy and wife Shannon Chambers of Delbarton and Yvette and husband Tim Justice of Elk Creek, WV, brothers; Albert Ferrell “Happy” and wife Jean Chambers of Varney, WV and Richard and wife Marsha Chambers of Matewan, WV, sister; Anita Ruth Lee of Phelps, KY. Jack will forever be missed by his grandchildren; Emma Leigh, Erika Paige, Callie and James Cooper Chambers and great-grandchild; Calvin Christopher Foote. In his life he has gathered many friends and family including his brother and sisters-in-law; James Jr. and Peggy Bowers, Carol and Gary Francis and Delores Spicer, special friends; Oliver Harris, C.W. and Sue Hatfield, Larry and Robyn Gannon, Bobby and Billie Sue Preece, Bobby and Debbie Starr, Dickie and Sabrina Belcher and Peggy Branham. Last but not least his faithful pet “JoJo” and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone in the medical field that has assisted in any way in the past several years in Jack’s recovery of his various surgeries. Funeral services will be held at the Connolly Memorial Baptist Church Thursday August 8, 2019 at 1:00pm with Rev. Shadd Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the Justice/Chambers Cemetery at Elk Creek, WV. Visitation will be held at the Church Wednesday evening after 6:00pm. The Bluegrass Gospel at Heart will sing as well as James Bowers Jr. will read the obit. At the graveside, Masonic Graveside Rites will be observed.
