Geraldine Blair

Geraldine Stepp Blair, 87, of Lenore, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, following a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 28, 1938, in Delbarton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Carlie S. Stepp and Trulie Stepp Brewster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Frank Blair; brothers, Thathus Stepp and Randy Stepp; sisters, Naomi Stepp Carr and Delores Stepp Pyles; and step-brother, Jimmy Brewster. Geraldine was a 1956 graduate of Burch High School. In her early years, she worked as a social worker with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and at Western Electric in Columbus, Ohio. Driven by a lifelong love of learning, Geraldine later pursued her passion for education and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Pikeville University. She devoted 29 years of service as a kindergarten teacher at Lenore Grade School, where she touched the lives of countless children and families. She and her late husband, Frank, owned and operated F & G Carry Out at Laurel Creek for 17 years. She was a longtime and faithful member of the Ajax Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Geraldine was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished teacher. She was known for her patience, kindness, and selflessness, always placing the needs of her family above her own. Her students held a special place in her heart, and many remembered her as their first teacher and a lasting influence in their lives. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Barry Blair of Lenore, West Virginia, and Timothy Blair of Kissimmee, Florida; daughters, Jamie R. Blair of Lenore and Gina Hicks of Williamson, West Virginia; brothers, Hershel Carlie Stepp and Melvin Gordon (Darlene) Stepp; sisters, Arlene Stepp Owens, Yvonne Stepp Guillory, Brenda (Norris) Stepp Wallace, Sandra (Bill) Stepp Belcher, and Rhonda (Joseph) Stepp Meglen; five grandchildren, Jaron Hicks, Cierra (Brandon) Toler, Dylan Blair, Jordan (Santana) Blair, and Matthew (Maddie) Blair; and four great-grandchildren, Braelyn Toler, Jasmine Blair, Conner Blair, and Soul Blair. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., at Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton, West Virginia, with Rev. Jim Ed Baisden and Rev. Albert Goble officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery in Laurel Creek, West Virginia, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Chafin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Blair family.
